History of Khyber Pakhtoon Khawa
Erstwhile known as the North-West Frontier Province (NWFP), it was named as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2010 through 18th Amendment to the Constitution of Pakistan. Its Capital is Peshawar.
It shares borders with the FATA, on the West; Gilgit–Baltistan on the North-East; Azad Kashmir, Islamabad and Punjab on the East and South-East. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa shares border with Baluchistan through Frontier Region on its South.

Ancient History of Khyber Pakhtoon Khwa
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is the site of ancient kingdom Gandhara, which had three headquarters, one at Taxila, another at Pushkalavati (Present day Charsadda) and yet another at Rani Ghat Swabi. Takht-i-Bahi was prominent seat of learning at that time.
It had been under the rule of various Dynasties and Empires at various points of time in history, which included the Persians, Greeks, Mauryas, Kushans, Shahis, Ghaznavids, Mughals, Afghans, Sikhs, and Britishers.
